February 2008
Dear Colleague,
I am pleased to announce the $27 million reauthorization of our highly successful partnership program with local grantmakers, which will now be known as Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Local Funding Partnerships (LFP). The 2009 LFP Call for Proposals is now available, with an application deadline of July 8, 2008 for awards to begin July 1, 2009.
The success of the LFP program is a tribute to the dynamic new ideas brought forward by local grantmakers. We value the opportunity to partner with you in funding creative initiatives that make a meaningful improvement in the health of vulnerable populations in your community.
Often grantmakers are instrumental in convening groups that typically do not work together, including organizations from both inside and outside of the health sector. We welcome these broad-based community partnerships and the breakthrough ideas they present.
Local Funding Partnerships is an integral part of the Vulnerable Populations portfolio of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). Through Vulnerable Populations, RWJF focuses on problems where social factors such as poverty, violence, inadequate housing or education contribute to poor health.
Together with your support of projects co-funded by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Local Funding Partnerships, we expect to make progress in solving some of America’s most intractable health problems.
Additional details about the LFP application process and the complete text of the Call for Proposals are available at this website (www.localfundingpartnerships.org).
As always, national program director Pauline Seitz and her staff will be happy to answer your questions or discuss potential projects. I too am available for questions or comments.
We look forward to learning more about promising projects you recommend and to collaborating with you.
With best wishes,
Jane Isaacs Lowe, Ph.D., Senior Program Officer
